Jacqueline & Nick were married and held their reception at 128 South. This beautiful and classic wedding was so cute that it has been featured on Wilmington Weddings Blog!! White and green was the main color scheme and Jacqueline carried a beautiful bouquet of Parrot Tulips. Button mums, roses, calla lilies and tulips all in shades of white and green looked great against the brick inside 128 South. Check out the blog for photos and more about this wonderful day!

Angela was wed at the Blockade Runner on Wrightsville Beach. She loved color, texture and unique flowers. She carried a bouquet of swamp lilies, fern curls, mango calla lilies, Mocarra orchids, ogofolium, & billy balls in shades of yellow & burnt orange. (my pics)

This elegant couple celebrated their love at Kenan Chapel and The Nicklaus Clubhouse in Landfall. They had exquisite taste and wanted all the flowers to be in shades of white and ivory to compliment the gold Chivari chairs and gold pin tuck linens. Megan carried a bouquet of different types of roses and gardenias that brought tears to her eyes! At Landfall the centerpieces were built in tall, medium and short silver containers using roses, peonies and hydrangea all in white and ivory. KMI Photography got amazing shots! Alison & Ted were married at Surf City on this sunny Sunday. Blue sea glass and starfish complimented our arrangements of white callas, white stock, blue iris, blue corn flower, & yellow wax. Check out the slideshow by Matt Mcgraw.

Gorgeous Joanna exchanged vows with her hubby at Lebanon Chapel and celebrated their love at 128 South. She carried one of our all time favorite bouquets of hydrangea, dusty miller, peonies, Parrot tulips, lisianthus, stock, & scabiosa in all white and green. We teamed up with the lovely ladies at A Shindig Events & created a natural, fun, gardeny look. At the reception we used an eclectic assortment of containers filled with hydrangea, agapanthis, hyacinth, delphinium, roses, iris and more! All in cool, pale shades like cream, pale blue, yellow and coral. Jacobus Photography took beautiful shots!

Danielle and Mark exchanged vows at Southside Baptist Church and then took the celebration downtown to 128 South. Danielle loved purple so her flowers were all in shades of purple with white mixed in. We used hydrangea, roses, calla lilies, dendrobium & cymbidium orchids to create her vision.

Monica & Jason

Monica loved the idea of incorporating branches into her centerpieces and had very classy & unique taste in flowers. Beau Rivageset the perfect scene for the celebration of love for these two! Monica carried a unique, almost cascading bouquet of blue hydrangea, orange gladiolas and white phaelionopsis orchids down the aisle that lead her to her husband under a beautiful tree. Her bridesmaids and groomsmen wore chocolate brown dresses and suits making the blue and orange pop. Inside, the reception was amazing!. Votives hung elegantly from Manzanita branches that were coming out of blue hydrangea and covered in orange Gladiolas. More photos to come from photographer Jason Hudson.

Susan & Adam exchanged vows at Kenan Chapel where Susan carried a bouquet of hydrangea, cymbidium & dendrobium orchids and star of Bethlehem in all white and green with black and white ostrich feathers as an accent. They then headed to the other side of town to Cape Fear Country Club for their reception. Using Fuji mums, variegated hosta, hanging amaranthis and Phaelionopsis Orchids we created a beautiful setting with very clean lines and modern style.

Kate, Erica & Kathy all headed over to Bald Head Island for Jacqueline and Tim’s wedding weekend. They had tons of family and friends come to the island and took very good care of them. They had a welcome party, a rehearsal dinner, a bridesmaids luncheon, a Saturday morning brunch and then the wedding! Millie Hollaman Photography did the photos and there will be many more (real professional ones) coming soon!

Wedding Season Has Begun!

Not only are we super excited (and busy!) about all the upcoming weddings this year, but we also just got some work with Screen Gems! We couldn't be more excited or feel more priveledged to be working with the once again booming movie/tv business in Wilmington! Catch a glimpse of our flowers in the upcoming pilots "Revenge" and "Hart of Dixie!"

This past weekend on April 2, three lucky couples got hitched! Social Butterfly Events coordinated Courtney & Chris's wedding even through the gusts of wind on Wrightsville Beach. The bride & groom then headed downtown where 128 South was covered in pink to celebrate their reception. Tulips, tulips, tulips & more tulips filled Courtney's bouquets and table arrangements. Caren became Mrs. Glenn as she exchanged vows with her new hubby at Kenan Chapel. Caren and her bridesmaids carried gorgous bouquets of white & green hydrangea dotted with purple tulips and dendrobium and cymbidium orchids wrapped in varigated hasta leaves. Her reception was held at the Surf Club on Wrightsville Beach where her classic and beautful table arrangements went perfectly. Her reception arrangements were mostly green and white using parrot tulips (my faves!) white & green hydrangea and varigated hosta.

April & Steven had an early afternoon ceremony at Airlie Pergola Gardens. April loved purple and loved the rustic look. Her natural looking bouquets were spectacular and fulled with white & green hydrnagea, peonies, stock, campunilia, & ranuculous in shades of purple from lavender to super dark. Her reception brought the rustic, southern feel to the very modern Cameron Art Museum. Her tables had cedar disks of wood with lanterns and arrangemtns in mason jars on top of the disks. Her arrangements were all different and used a mix of the same flowers in the bouquets in all shades of purple. More photos from KMI Photography coming soon.

Working Hard!

The Fiore team has been working hard! We had two successful wedding shows in January and a great Valentine's Day! In January we put on the Landfall Showcase at The Dye Club on the 15th and worked with some of our faves! Kickstand Events, Social Butterfly Events & A Shindig Southern Events designed three gorgeous, unique looks. KMI Photography took some great shots! The following day we had a sparkling booth at the Cape Fear Wedding Expo downtown at the Schwartz Center. Check out the photos taken by Indigosilver.
Valentine's Day was super busy, as to be expected! Some beautiful arrangements went out the door & hopefully made a lot of people smile!
We are gearing up for wedding season and can't wait to see our designs come alive on the happiest day of a girl's life!

October 2nd

Rich orange, red and bronze hues celebrated the brisk chill in the air at the small but beautiful ceremony of Susan H. at the Temple Gardens in Landfall. Susan loved color and texture. A bouquet of antique green hydrangea, mango calla lilies, white freesia, spray roses and dahlias in fall colors filled Susan’s hands as she exchanged vows with her husband. Half Moon Photography photographed this fall wedding. The couple celebrated their nuptials at the family home in Landfall with earthy fall colors.

Also in Landfall at Kenan Chapel Mary Marshall and Jimmy were wed. Mary Marshall carried a beautiful white bouquet with hints of orange and green. White hydrangea, dahlias, tube roses, freesia and mini callas were accented with green hypericum berries and orange Mocara Orchids. The alter was adorned with silver trumpet vases filled with orange lilies, dahlias, white hydrangea and roses. The reception was held at Carolina Yacht Club and the fall color theme was carried over in the centerpieces. Erica Letchworth took fabulous photos of the wedding and our arrangements!

Just down the road the same day at Wrightsville Beach Methodist Church Lauren & Chase became husband & wife. Lauren wanted a tropical feel to her fall wedding so we used Asiatic lilies, callas, mini cymbidium orchids as well as roses in varying shades of orange, red and yellow. The couple stayed on the beach and held the reception at Blockade Runner. Check out some photos by photographer Kristopher Gerner.

On October 8th white & ivory flowers stood out against cobalt blue dresses and the rich wood tones inside the chapel as we returned to Kenan Chapel for the ceremony of Kasey & Kurt. Kasey’s bouquet had hydrangea, roses, dahlias, ranunculus, and freesia in all shades of white. The reception was celebrated at downtown at Coastline Convention Center. This wedding had a soft and romantic feel. Terah Wilson from Timeless Fotographie took the shots which can be seen on our FaceBook.

Roses, irises, & mums in varying shades of purple mixed with white, tissue paper soft lisianthus with lavender tips complemented white hydrangea in Michelle’s bouquet as she and Justin exchanged vows in their intimate ceremony in Oak Island.

Jill Z. became Mrs. Michner on October 9th. She picked up her bright, tropical bouquets of dendrobium orchids, calla, and Asiatic and Gloriosa lilies and headed to North Topsail for her ceremony. Also on October 9th, carrying a bright mix of fall colors with lots of texture Jessica married Mike at Airlie Gardens. Her bouquet was filled with shades orange, green and pink using freesia, calla lilies, hydrangea, celosia & hanging amaranthus. Her bridesmaids wore clover green dresses and carried mostly white bouquets of hydrangea, alstroemeria & dahlias. The reception was held downtown at the Upper Room where we adorned chocolate brown linens with coordinating flowers from the bouquets. Orton Chapel hosted one of it’s last weddings ever on October 10th. Ann and Jeremy had a romantic and pink ceremony. Ann’s bouquet was soft and feminine and was filled with cabbage roses, celosia, hydrangea, and roses in shades of pink and light orange. Moss covered cones with cabbage and spray roses marked the family pews. Photos were taken by Chris Lang and can be seen on our FaceBook page.

On October 16th Laura and Lewis tied the knot at the Country Club of Landfall Nicklaus Clubhouse. Definitely one of our faves! Laura had a unique and interesting taste in flowers for her wedding. She wanted a clean, modern look with an eggplant purple, orange and green color scheme. Her a-symmetrical bouquet consisted of Picasso callas, white freesia, dahlias, dendrobium orchids, pitcher plant, and fern curls. Laura and Lewis were married under a wrought iron arch with flowing flowers and greenery coming down. All different kinds of orchids were used in her table centerpieces including purple Dendrobiums & Vandas, green cymbidiums, & orange Mocaras. Eggplants, artichokes, star fruit & purple cabbage were also incorporated into her centerpieces. Check out the pictures by Matt McGraw.

Another happy couple was tying the knot on October 16th. Emily & Trey celebrated their love downtown first at St. Thomas Preservation Hall then at the Dudley Mansion. 128 South was filled with handkerchiefs, lace doilies, tea pots, bottles & jars that created the whimsical, vintage tea party setting for Brytani & Will’s early Sunday wedding on October 30th. The couple loosely themed their wedding on the Pixar Movie “Up” so the groom wore a grape soda pin boutonniere with fern curls, sea oats and scabiosa. We have all been working hard here at Fiore! We have worked with tons of great brides and thank them all for choosing us and wish them all the best in the future!!

September 4th on Wrightsville Beach Johanna Clifford wore a vintage style gown and carried an earthy bouquet down the aisle. Hydrangea, lisianthus, alstroemeria, scabiosa, & roses in shades of purple, pink, and green filled her hands with a lush bouquet. She stood under a white arbor that was decorated with similar flowers as her bouquet in a whispy garden fashion with hanging ivy and bear grass. Her eclectic reception had earthy centerpieces. Birch containers with maidenhair fern plants, hydrangea, & scabiosa; silver bowls with ivy plants & purple roses; tall white ceramic containers with green scabiosa pods, kiwi vine, & bear grass scattered the tables at The Bridge Tender. Moss, river rock & dyed eggs also added a whimsical touch.

Three couples tied the knot on September 11. Ashley S. became Mrs. T. Ashley W. became Ahsley H. & Julia &Mitch became Mr. & Mrs. R.

On Wrightsville Beach Ashley S. soaked up the sun carrying a bouquet with long, natural stems of Stargazer lilies, white dendrobium orchids, big, hot pink roses, bear grass and ruscus. A fancy antique white ribbon wrap added detail to the stems.

The fresh and vibrant wedding of Ashley W. was definitely one of our faves! The Cape Fear River was the perfect backdrop and the stunning Dudley Mansion created the perfect canvas for Ashley’s unique wedding. Black & white was enhanced with pale yellow and shades of green. The wrought iron arch was ornately designed with green bells of Ireland, big white calla lilies, yellow lilies, cymbidium & dendrobium orchids, green new growth hydrangea, ivy & moss created a lush frame for the couple to exchange vows under. The cobblestone aisle lined with yellow and white rose petals lead up to our gorgeous wrought iron arch. Large Aspidistra leaves looped created the base for Ashley’s imaginative bouquet which was filled with green new growth hydrangea, white phaelonopsis & dendrobium orchids, yellow freesia, mini callas, ladies mantel & white stephanotis (with pearls in the center!). She paid homage to her family by wrapping her bouquet with her grandfather’s handkerchief and adorned it with her parents’ wedding rings. Bright yellow cymbidium orchids popped off the black bridesmaids dresses. One of a kind, contemporary table arrangements built in glass cubes stood out on top of kiwi green satin linens. Exotic tropical flowers like lilies, fern curls, orchids and protea filled the cubes. KMI Photography took some gorgeous shots so just check out the pictures on our FaceBook or their blog.

At Airlie Gardens, Julia & Mitch had a romantic garden setting for their natural & sophisticated taste. Julia carried a mostly green bouquet with new growth hydrangea, hanging amarathis, lily grass & variegated pit was accented with white freesia. A black satin wrap matched her bridesmaids who all wore different black dresses. Courtney Aliah Photography got great shots, check them out on her blog! The vibrant green just pops off the black wrap and dresses. Willow and white & green hydrangea brought the garden feel to the reception at The Balcony downtown.

On September 17th Courtney & Keith shared vows at one end of town at Fort Fisher and celebrated their union on the other side, downtown at Front Street Brewery. The bridesmaids wore slate blue dresses and carried green & white bouquets. Courtney carried an all white rounded bouquet of hydrangea, football mums, dahlias, & ranunculus. The soft & romantic look was carried over in the reception with tall squares filled with river rock with white mums glued to branches of willow & white hydrangea overflowing from low cubes created a romantic forest through Front Street Brewery.

Kim & Mr. Mills were wed at Poplar Grove Plantation on September 18th. Kim carried a “black” bouquet of Black Magic Roses and dark red gerbera daisies. Her maids carried bouquets of all dark red gerberas. The couple exchanged vows at the gazebo, which was lavishly draped with tulle and tied with pewter and red ribbon. Glass cubes with black marbles and floating dark red gerberas accented the reception site.

Two more couples exchanged vows on September 18th. Kim & David (a.k.a. Ken & Barbie) perhaps the most beautiful couple in the world just oozed love all over each other. It was as if the wind kept pushing them into each other, but we know they just couldn’t keep their hands off each other! The colors in this wedding were almost as hot as the couple! Nestled perfectly in between the dunes at the south end of Wrightsville Beach, Kim walked down a sandy aisle bordered with hot pink, lime green and yellow Fuji mums, to meet her husband under a big white arch decorated with lush greenery and brightly colored Stargazer lilies, Fuji mums, and dendrobium orchids. Kim’s bright bouquet was wrapped with a locket that had photos of her family members in it. Friends and family stepped out of the wind and into a dazzling Lumina Hall where fuchsia, hot pink and & yellow orchids created a forest of color. Curtains of strung fuchsia dendrobium orchids & Swarovski crystals framed the candy bar entrance piece. Sarah M picked up her flowers & took a ferry to Bald Head Island to become Mrs. Ruiz. She carried an all white bouquet of hydrangea, mini calla lilies, stephanotis & dendrobium orchids. She also wore white dendrobium orchids in her hair. Her 2 flower girls also wore halos of orchids & stephanotis.

On September 24th Kristen W. picked up her bouquets and headed to Shell Island Resort. Her bouquets were earthy and natural with a mix of cut greenery, millet, hydrangea, daisy mums, Star’s of Bethlehem, and wax flower.

On September 25th two weddings were going on at opposite sides of town. Elizabeth L. became Mrs. Taranko in Landfall. Amanda G. became Mrs. Buehrer in Carolina Beach.

Elizabeth carried a vibrant bouquet of orange gerbera daisies & roses accented with green seeded eucalyptus & hypericum berry at her early fall ceremony at Kenan Chapel. Her maids carried similar bright bouquets. The alter was adorned with rich bronze urns filled with lush greenery, orange roses & gerberas with white roses as an accent. Willow branches and ivy hanging down created a rich fall palette. She celebrated her union with family and friends at the Dye Club in Landfall. Check out some pictures on FaceBook.

Amanda picked up her flowers and strolled to her small wedding in Carolina Beach. She carried a simple yet elegant bouquet of white roses with green hypericum berries. Her three bridesmaids carried a single white rose with a white shoelace ribbon wrap.

On a balmy August 7th Hayley & Dave had an elegant ceremony at St. Marks Church. Hayley’s large bouquet was all white and had hydrangea, oriental lilies, roses, freesia, & calla lilies. She also wore white dendrobium orchids in her hair. All six of her bridesmaid’s carried all white bouquets of all one flower. The maid of honor carried roses while the other maids carried football mums, stock, oriental lilies, lisianthus, and hydrangea. They held their reception at the Surf Club on Wrightsville Beach. The table was a long u-shape with vases of varying height and shape down the center filled with all white flowers. The spectacularly sophisticated and dazzling look of this wedding landed Hayley on the cover of “The Perfect Wedding Planner,” and a two page spread in “Focus on the Coast. On August 14th two couples were wed. Tiffani carried an imaginative bouquet of green and white as she strolled down the aisle to meet Dan at Kenan Chapel in Landfall. Aspidistra leaves were bent to create loops for the base of her bouquet which was filled with hydrangea, cymbidium & dendrobium orchids, lisianthus, & figs. Mini pineapples were used in the grooms & groomsmen boutonnieres! They celebrated their union downtown at 128 South. Bill Parr took beautiful photographs of Tiffani & Dan’s wedding.

Down the street a ways, Jen was getting married at Southside Baptist Church. Jen loved color and had a vibrant bouquet of green new growth hydrangea, yellow freesias &roses, hot pink bouvardia, pink dendrobium orchids & orange mini gerbera daisies. Her bridesmaids carried similar bouquets wrapped with kiwi ribbon. Porter’s Neck Country Club hosted the reception where round tables were decorated with vases filled with lemons and limes. To create the floral arrangements bear grass, stock, pink roses, yellow & orange gerbera daisies, bouvardia and hydrangea were used.

Let's get caught up on our busy year!

Did we tell you now much we love weddings? Just checking!!! We had many brides pick dates in July and had so much fun planning and pulling together their ideas.
On July 4th, we helped Jill Saddler bring her wedding day together with simple white calla bouquets for she and her bridesmaid and clean, contemporary looks for the tables at her reception.

July 7th brought us a fun day for a terrific bride & groom, Missy Wiles & Brandon White. Their vision of a small wedding on the family boat and a party at their Banks Channel family place became reality on a warm July evening. A tent covered the main lawn area and bright lanterns swung in the wind! As the wedding approached, a storm was threatening but nature seemed to know it should stay away and the happy couple was able to dance the night away with their friends and family.

Missy's color scheme was bright and cheerful and her vision of a special night for all was felt by everyone. Missy and Brandon are now settling into their new home, where they are doing much of the redo work themselves! We are impressed!

On July 17th we designed flowers for the wedding of Mary Browder & Evan Hattan. Mary selected coral and turquoise and we had fun working with peonies, cabbage roses and orchids. The River Room provided the perfect backdrop for their wedding.

We also had our team of Erica & Ayla designing for Anna Contino's wedding at Lebanon Chapel in Airlie Gardens giving beautiful hand-tied bouquets for Anna and her bridesmaids. They set a creative and elegant table at The Balcony with cubes of callas, hydrangeas & gerber daisies.

Bernadette Bauer's wedding was held at Port City Church at 10:00 am on July 24th. Bernadette wanted something different and had us design a hand-tied, wispy, cascading bouquet with orchids, David Austin roses, lisianthus ad Lady's mantel. Her bridesmaids looked lovely with their bouquets of hydrangea, hot pink cabbage roses & sweet william tied with pewter & pink ribbon. Beautiful in July!

On July 31st, Lauren Bryant was married at Kenan Chapel. Her needs were small, yet we loved designing her flowers. A sweet bouquet of ivory and green roses with white hydrangea & green hypericum berries for Lauren and hot pink goditia with whites & greens brought her vision together.

"Summer lovin' had me a blast..."-Grease

While classes end and summer begins, the month of June has everyone in this southern town excited for sun, sand, surf and romance! We had the honor of taking part in these big days before the temperatures rose out of control.
-Saturday, June 5-
Christine Keinath & Nick Dimeo had an elegant look for their special day. They were wed at Kenan Chapel within the gates of the Landfall community and celebrated on Wrightsville Beach at the Holiday Inn Sunspree. The color theme was ivory & pale pink and accessories included pearls, sea glass and votive candles. White & ivory blooms of hydrangeas, roses, freesia, dendrobium orchids and spray roses blended well with the soft pink roses, alstroemeria and hypericum berries. There was a wide variety of greens used throughout the arrangements such as Israeli ruscus, lemon leaf, lilly & bear grass, variegated aspidistra, pittosporum and ivy, as well as smilax and curly willow. The couple opted for a mix of table arrangements using tall Eiffel tower vases, short trios and even floating flowers for bistro tables. Here are just a few pics.

On the north end of town, Marilyn Carlson & Grant Rush were getting married at a waterfront home by Figure 8 Island. Their outdoor ceremony & reception complimented the natural beauty of the view by their use of blue, white and green florals. The bride carried a bouquet of blue, white and green new growth hydrangeas against her simple white dress and adorned her locks with white dendrobium orchids. Lots of green was used by way of roses, hypericum berries, amaranthus, bells of Ireland, lady's mantle, dusty miller, lemon leaf, aspidistra, asparagus & sword fern, pittosporum, seeded eucalyptus, elaeagnus, lilly & bear grass, moss, and finally, figs. Additional blooms included yellow stock, blue delphinium, white cabbage roses and Queen Anne's lace. Pearls, shells, curly willow, blue tinted water and raffia were used to accentuate the arrangements.

Down at the little chapel on Orton Plantation, Afton Harrington & Scott Sikes were joining their lives in holy matrimony. Their garden inspired ceremony site was kept as a theme throughout their reception held at Pine Valley Country Club. The soft color palette of ivory, Carolina blue and light pink made it easy to find flowers to compliment. Blooms such as peonies, cabbage roses, hydrangeas, roses, stock, delphinium and regular roses were used in the previously mentioned hues. Additionally, lemon leaf, asparagus fern and bear grass was also used. Lace and pearls adorned the bouquets while centerpieces were held in a variety of silver vases such as mint juleps.

-Friday, June 11-

Laura Klein & Nick Way chose to get married outdoors at Airlie Gardens in a slightly untraditional Jewish ceremony. The two were wed in a small intimate ceremony officiated by Rev. Barbara McKenzie Tervo under Fiore’s custom made chuppah. The chuppah was adorned with white fabric and flower sprays containing teal hydrangeas, red sunflowers, white stock, mango calla lilies, white dendrobium orchids, orange Asiatic lilies, white roses, bells of Ireland and various textured greens. The wedding party who wore shades of slate gray, with the exception of the bride—dressed in white, carried & wore bright mixes of the same flowers. The couple joined their guests that evening at 128 South for a fun filled reception that was as bright and exciting as their floral centerpieces. Guest tables and other room bouquets incorporated the same flower combinations. A special thanks to Nick for serving our country and keeping us all safe.

Jennifer Bess became Mrs. Mike Bailiff when she said “I do” at their Southport wedding. Jennifer kept her bouquets and body flowers very clean, crisp and elegant to pair with her seaside theme. She carried a combination of white and ivory roses and added pops of green by the use of hypericum berries. Her maids also carried white rose bouquets while the men donned white spray roses with greenery in their boutonnières.

Allie Baumgartner & Will Denton’s wedding ceremony took place in Landfall’s Kenan Chapel with a reception following at Country Club of Landfall’s intimate Dye Clubhouse. Allie with the help of her mom and sister chose flowers and arrangements that were both “simple” and “southern”. Allie carried light blue hydrangeas, white daisy’s & white roses based with green lemon leaf while Will wore a white rose to match. Other body flowers included white daisy pomander balls, white spray roses & yellow wax flower. For the altar, we created 2 large arrangements using large moss covered urns, fern plants and daisies. The guest table centerpieces were created in glass fish bowls filled with water and curly willow with a mix of various greens, daisies and more willow.

At six o’clock Liza Dewey married Rob Odell at Orton Plantation’s South Panoramic River Overlook location. Yellow and white ribbons were hung from the tree where the two were wed. And, while the boys wore khaki suits with navy ties, the bridal party wore navy dresses. These neutral colors allowed for bold & bright bouquets—yellow and orange Asiatic lilies with dark green ruscus for the maids and orange lilies, white & yellow roses and dark greens for the bride. To compliment, the groomsmen wore yellow freesia boutonnieres while Rob had one made of a white rose, greens and yellow filler. Other corsages and boutonnieres contained white freesia and white spray roses. Another nice floral detail adorned by the bride was the chartreuse green cymbidium orchid that bounced off her dark hair. The guest tables kept with the theme and were dressed with lily & daisy centerpieces.

It’s safe to say that Amber Kerns, her mom & mother-in-law are some of our favorite clients. We had the ability to break out and help Amber plan a spectacular wedding from start to finish. Amber and groom, Graham’s fun & laid back personalities lent themselves to a very easy going engagement. Their theme incorporated who they were as individuals and how they became one. Their rehearsal dinner was held in downtown Wilmington at The Balcony on Dock. Mrs. Malmgren vividly describes the setting:
“Because Graham proposed to Amber with a kite on Wrightsville Beach, we chose kites for our theme. There were kites in raspberry, apple green, crayon yellow, crayon orange or peacock blue strung from the ceiling. The table cloths alternated in those same five colors and so did the napkin rings with homemade miniature kites.”
The table arrangements were made of branches and greens that suspended pink, orange and yellow gerbera daisies in the air. These vivid colors can describe their love for Spanish influence—Amber’s a Spanish teacher! On Saturday, the two were wed at Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church. Her color scheme took on a more neutral and bridal feel. Amber wore a beautiful antique-white lace dress and carried a round bouquet of white hydrangeas, roses & freesia and pops of blue delphinium and cornflower. Her maids wore tea-length navy dresses with salmon rosette belts, champagne shoes and carried similar bouquets to the bride’s. The groomsmen wore gray suites with navy accents and boutonnières made of white spray roses and cornflower. Rather than wearing corsages, both of their mothers chose to carry stems of white calla lilies. Other corsages and boutonnieres were made using white & ivory spray roses, white freesia, white mini calla’s and light blue delphinium. The church was dressed with aisle markers and altar arrangements containing blue hydrangeas, white Asiatic lilies, white stock, blue delphinium, white wax flower, coral roses & lush greens. Their 150 person reception was held at The Country Club of Landfall. The ballroom’s round guest tables were dressed in ivory pin tuck linens and topped in varying sized arrangements in silver containers-low, medium & tall. The same flowers used in the ceremony were also used throughout the reception in shades of white, ivory & blue. The head table was prepared with water-filled mint julep containers in large, medium & small sizes for the bridesmaids to place their bouquets in. This wedding was especially fun and meaningful to us since we as a team got to work so closely with Amber and her family in making decisions to create an entire one of a kind wedding.

Julie Gridley & Craig Wilson mixed it up for us by hosting a Friday afternoon wedding at a private home on May 21! The bride carried a bouquet of white and bright green new growth hydrangeas that was accented with ivory ribbon and pearl pins. The bridesmaids donned black dresses and carried white Fuji mums based with lemon leaf and wrapped in a kiwi green double-faced satin ribbon. In keeping with the green and white florals, the corsages and boutonniere's were made of spray roses, coffee berries and fresh greens.

May 22 was the day Lindsay Kidd & Dave Kirk as well as Amy Weaver & Chris Kleparek chose to tie the knot! Ironically both couples also had their weddings in Landfall.

Lindsay & Dave had an intimate ceremony at Kenan Chapel that was succeeded by a reception at The Surf Club. Their color selections bounced off a base of aqua blue. Body flowers created for this couple's playful affair included blooms such as white dendrobium orchids, green hypericum, soft pink spray roses and white calla lilies.

On the other end of the property, New York couple, Amy & Chris were celebrating at Country Club of Landfall's main clubhouse. The jewel-like color palette included citrine yellow, amethyst purple, peridot green & diamond white. Their stylish nuptials began with an outdoor garden wedding at Airlie Gardens. Amy carried all white--peonies, nigella, stock, French tulips, roses & Queen Anne's lace. Her bridesmaids wore light chartreuse colored dresses and purple pumps. To match, they carried a mix of dark purple stock, yellow and white spray roses, purple dendrobium orchids and green new growth hydrangeas. Other arrangements also included purple blooms of asters, veronica and campanula. The green came through in the arrangements from materials like hanging amaranthus, ivy, bells of Ireland, lady's mantle, lemon leaf, variegated pittosporum, bear grass, aspidistra leaves, seeded eucalyptus, moss and rye grass. Curly willow and white hydrangeas were also used in various pieces.

Finally to cap it all off, on May 29, our Memorial Day weekend brides and grooms were as follows:

Jen Ferguson & Andy Ward had an exquisite outdoor ceremony and reception downtown at the historic Dudley Mansion. Their wedding had a vintage 1920's aura. Jen carried a classic bouquet of white and green new growth hydrangeas, cream cabbage roses, white lisianthus with lavender tips, succulence, tuberose, white dendrobium orchids, ivory spray roses, white peonies, blackberries, bells of Ireland and rosemary. Other decor at this outdoor fête included strings of dendrobuim orchids, crystal and pearl gels inside vases and floating candles.

Katie Foster & Josh Myles celebrated their nuptials at the Country Club of Landfall's original Dye clubhouse after their nearby ceremony at Temple Gardens. Katie wanted to keep the feel casual, simple and beachy, yet still maintain an element of elegance. To do this via florals, we opted for garden blooms in bright ocean-complimenting colors like white, sky blue, salmon pink, green and khaki. Katie's bouquet popped off of her champagne colored dress and consisted of white mini calla lilies and blue muscari and was wrapped in a sky blue double-faced satin ribbon. The bridesmaids wore sky blue dresses and toted bouquets of white & blue hydrangeas, bright green new growth hydrangeas, salmon peonies, blue muscari, white spray roses, salmon & green coffee berries and bear grass. Raffia was used to accent.

Last but certainly not least, we can't forget Julia Wicker & Darren Lee's real life fairytale wedding! Friends and family enjoyed watching the two tie the knot in an outdoor ceremony on the lawn of Julia's mother's waterfront home. The tent overlooking Figure 8 Island and the glistening Intracoastal Waterway was lavishly adorned with enchanting purple blooms. Julia followed her dendrobium & rose halo, wing wearing & glittering wand waving flower girls down an aisle of lavender rose petals carrying a fresh mix of white hydrangeas, cymbidium orchids and green dendrobium orchids. Her bridesmaids who wore iridescent purple dresses toted matching bouquets of hydrangeas, dendrobium orchids, roses and greenery. The party moved on to the Country Club of Landfall for a celestial reception where sparkly butterflies were abundant. Other flowers used throughout their day include white & green roses, white & lavender wax flower, green mini cymbidium orchids, dark purple stock, white and fuchsia phalaenopsis orchids and metallic silver branches of curly willow.

"Blooms Galore"

The month of May is always full of so many celebrations. Beyond Mother's Day, graduations & Memorial Day there are many, many weddings this month in southeastern North Carolina! Check out the weddings Fiore took part in this May!

The first weekend in May we had the pleasure of partaking in the nuptials of Kelly Dziczek & Scott Drogue. For their rehearsal dinner at The Country Club of Landfall's Dye Clubhouse the couple opted for a fun southern BBQ. Their red & white gingham table cloths were topped with red geranium's in clay pots and dressed with curly willow for some added height. On Saturday, May 1, these love birds were wed in an outdoor ceremony on the back lawn at The Country Club of Landfall's Nicklaus Clubhouse. The color palate was much different from the rehearsal with a nice soft blend of white, pink, peach, green and lavender blooms of callas-large & mini sizes, dendrobium orchids, peonies, coffee berries, spray roses and lady's mantle. The celebration & decor spilled indoors for their reception in the ballroom.

A busy May 15 hosted weddings for Christie Rhodes & Ryan Stirnkorb, Lee Ann Mitchel & Jess Bolton, Kristi Leinen & her beau John Lineberger, Jordan Craig & Taylor Weber and Cathy Cease & her groom, Zee Scheidler. Blessed with so many weddings-our design team was able to use their imagination to create designs as unique as each of these couples!

Christie & Ryan opted for a more modern-uptown feel on their big day. For their rehearsal dinner on Friday night they chose simple yet elegant arrangements of white & bright green hydrangeas in glass cubes. On Saturday, their ceremony was held at St. Therese Catholic Church on Wrightsville Beach followed by a waterfront reception at Figure 8 Yacht Club. To compliment the bridal party's navy ensemble Christie selected white, ivory, peach, coral and green toned flowers. The sweet scent in her bouquet came from the fragrant cabbage roses she carried with hydrangeas, lisianthus and spray roses. Her bouquet was wrapped and adorned with crystals. Crystals were also hung from her large table centerpieces as well as inside the vases of some of the other smaller arrangements. Additional blooms & greens used throughout the wedding include: hypericum berries in the body flowers, white carnations for the pomander balls and lady's mantle which flowed from the centerpieces.

Lee Ann & Jess soaked up plentiful sunshine at their Wrightsville Beach ceremony. Afterward, their guests were still able to enjoy the ocean view from the reception held at Hanover Seaside Club. The shades of pink and white flowers selected popped nicely off the turquoise and sand colors seen in the bridal party's garments as well as the beach's natural hues. Lee Ann preferred the look of large open blooms like cabbage roses, dahlias, ranunculus, gardenias and lisianthus in addition to other textures such as hydrangeas, hypericum berries, stock and spray roses. Seeded eucalyptus, bear grass, curly willow, sand and tinted aqua water were used as additional elements in the arrangements to bring this vintage-beach inspired wedding to life.

On the other end of the island, Kristi & John enjoyed the same beautiful weather during their oceanfront ceremony & reception at the Surf Club. Although the bride carried a stunning, yet fairly neutral bouquet of white hydrangeas, cream cabbage roses, khaki roses, cornflower, light blue delphinium and dusty miller, Kristi and John wanted bright and colorful blossoms to reflect off of their white linens and monochromatic sandy venue. To accomplish this, sunflowers, coral roses, blue & yellow irises, bells of Ireland, Queen Ann's lace, bear grass and curly willow were also used throughout the centerpieces and "altar" arrangements.

On the other side of the Intracoastal Waterway, Jordan & Taylor rejoined their guest at Country Club of Landfall to celebrate the beginning of their new life together. The preceding ceremony was at St. James Episcopalian Church in downtown Wilmington. When Jordan came to Fiore for her first consultation, she may have not known exactly what kind of flowers she wanted for her big day, but she definitely knew her colors--PINK & GREEN! Jordan's idea of a youthful, fun, Hollywood lounge themed wedding came to life in their reception ballroom. The use of short and tall table centerpieces created a nice balance in the large room. The arrangements were lush with texture by using combination's of: small bright green hydrangeas, large white hydrangeas, white peonies, green hypericum berries, hot pink bouvardia, hot pink roses, white and hot pink spray roses, light pink garden spray roses, hot pink gladiolus, white freesia, lady's mantle, hot pink and white wax flower, bells of Ireland AND green carnations! The arrangements were further accentuated by scattered crystals on the tables and in the vases that sparkled even more from the small LED lights placed inside the vases.

Finally, on the other end of town, Cathy & Zee were celebrating at Beau Rivage Golf & Resort! Their party theme!? PURPLE! The bride carried a bouquet of stock, lisianthus, roses, iris, tulips & wax flower. In addition, purple carnations were used for pomander balls and such as well as white spray roses and wax flowers in boutonniere's & corsages, and dark purple dendrobium orchid blooms for the bridal party's hair! At the reception, the guest tables were adorned with bud vases and filled with varying heights of repeating blooms!

"Showered with flowers"

With spring in the air and flowers in full bloom, so is Fiore's 2nd wedding season! This April, our professional staff created unique designs for 5 wonderful couples.

To kick it all off on April 9-10, we had the pleasure of taking part in the joining of marriage of Emily Crawford and Van Williamson. Their rehearsal dinner flowers consisted of roses, coffee berries, bells of Ireland, calla lilies, cymbidium orchids, spray roses and greenery in shades of peach and green. For the ceremony, which was held at St. Johns Episcopal Church, the couple kept a traditional white floral theme including calla lilies, Asiatic lilies and stock with greenery such as lady's mantle and variegated pittosporum. They did however use a pop of hot pink for the bridal party's flowers. Emily carried a bouquet of all hot pink mini calla lilies. Finally, the couple celebrated with a reception at The Cameron Art Museum. For a slightly more tropical yet classic look to honor the bride's heritage, the ceremony was decorated using pink ginger, more calla lilies and lots of unusual greenery such as monstera leaves.

On April 17, Fiore had the honor to design bouquets and arrangements for Heather Bowden and her groom, Braye Walters. Their ceremony and reception were both located in Historic Downtown Wilmington at First Baptist Church & then The Coastline Convention Center. For this wedding, the theme was all white! The bride carried a lush bouquet of hydrangeas, dendrobium orchids, calla lilies, ranunculus and tulips! These blooms in addition to green dendrobium orchids and other mixed greens were used throughout the other ceremony and reception pieces.

April 18 was a double-header Sunday for our floral design team! First, Fiore designed bouquets, body flowers and ceremony arrangements for Shannon Autry & Aaron Jackson who were wed in the Chapel at Orton Plantation. They went for lovely garden flowers in shades of blue, green, white and yellow. Flowers included hydrangeas, freesia, tulips, mini gerber daisies and delphinium. Next, Kristen Schmidt married her fiance, Michael Aghajanian on the Intracoastal Waterway and then sailed into their reception at Bluewater Grille. The floral decor consisted of white and orange tulips and spray roses.

Fiore's final April 2010 wedding was on Saturday the 24 for Kilie Tompkins & Sheldon Styers. This couple enjoyed a casual beach side wedding on Carolina Beach. The flowers were a fresh mix of bright blooms like dendrobium orchids & orange Asiatic lilies.

The following weekend, January 23, Fiore had the pleasure of designing the florals for the nuptials of Holly Howard and Isaac Bigness. Erica and Holly had a great time coming up with unique bouquets, centerpieces and more to compliment the bride's selection of jewel toned fuchsias, peacock blues & teals and just a hint of natural undertones to match. The reception decor included dendrobium & cymbidium orchids, dyed leaves, peacock feathers, curly willow, stones and cranberries. Holly's bouquet was a mix of bold colored flowers such as roses, dark purple lisianthus, stock, bouvardia, veronica, seeded eucalyptus, queen annes lace and more! It was all about texture! The ceremony and reception both took place at The Balcony on Dock.

After all the Valentine's Day rush was over, Erica and Lonnie teamed up for the wedding of Julia Conrad & Zach Fisher. Their wedding and reception took place at The Blockade Runner in Wrightsville Beach on February 27. Our talented staff created arrangements in shades of white and purple using calla lilies, orchids, hydrangeas, stock and more!

Among all of the festive centerpieces, decor and gifts we had the opportunity to create this holiday season, we also had the honor to design some bridal bouquets for two lucky ladies who tied the knot in the final days of 2009!

12- In a short and sweet nuptuial exchange, Ms. Debbie Kimmel became Mrs. Debbie Ivey after her nuptuials to her beau.

19-Erin Glover was wed to her husband, Nick Canady in another simple ceremony preceding Christmas week. A mass of wine carnations were the feature in this blushing bride's bouquet as she walked down the aisle! A celebration at Halyburton Park followed their church ceremony!

"Thankful for Each Other"

Three couples this month expressed their gratitude for each other. We enjoyed two weddings and an engagement party!

07-This was a busy weekend! We started with the wedding of Donna del Borrello and Jamie Hinrich at Wrightsville beach. The bride carried a bouquet of orange gerbers down the aisle, where she met her husband-to-be under a white arbor. Her bridesmaids carried a bouquet of white gerbers. These flowers were repeated throughout their reception at Bluwater Grill.

07- This day continued with an engagement party for Jordan Craig and Taylor Weber. The party was held behind a personal residence in an open baskyard. Fall leaves were used to bring the colors of the season to the event. Pumpkins, gourds, apples, and berries were also uses along with nuts, dried wheat and sunflowers. The celebration showcased candy apples and hot cider amongst other treats. The guest enjoyed the evening underneath the night sky, enhanced with candlelight.

15- That next weekend, we had a destination wedding on Sunday on Shell Island! Emily Corn and Micheal Evans had a beautiful, intimate ceremony between two white arches at the end of a daisy aisle. Emily carried red roses down the daisy aisle leading towards the beach, as her bridesmaid held their bouquets of cream roses. It was certainly a beautiful event photographed by Matt Mcgraw.

21-Finally, the Saturday before Thanksgiving festivities were underway, Alan Lipka and Donna Massa had a very sweet and simple wedding celebration with family and friends at Kenan Chapel in Landfall and dined at The Oceanic. Alan and Donna were both very involved in the flower selection process for their big day, so much that Alan even came in the morning before the wedding to help our Lead Designer create his bride's bouquet. Their color selections were a unique compliment of royal blue and orange with splashes of white. The reception was a simple mix of bud vases filled with blue delphinium, mini gerberas and freesia, respectively.

OCTOBER

"Unafraid of Love"

As the leaves change colors and Halloween draws near, these following couples weren't afraid of falling more deeply in love with one another by taking the next big step in their lives together.

04-Our first weekend in October was especially special because I knew the couple prior to them coming to Fiore for flowers. Valerie Dryka and Joe Kuziel, a college classmate of mine were tying the knot! The two had a gorgeous late Sunday afternoon wedding at The Blockade Runner. The ceremony took place out on the beach side lawn and the reception moved into the ballroom. The couple chose peach as their primary color accented by ivory. Flowers used included: tulips, roses, freesia & dried wheat.

10-Martha Lawrence & Bob Williams held their marriage celebration at Country Club of Landfall's Dye Clubhouse. Mr. & Mrs. Williams' florals were in shades of purple, yellows, creams and greens. Flowers included: hydrangeas, roses, carnations, cymbidium orchids, lisianthus and more.

17-A destination wedding weekend for Fiore's next two couples: Emily Wagner & Scott Page came to Wilmington all the way from Indiana to tie the knot! They were married on the beach and celebrated at a small reception in historic downtown Wilmington. The happy couple kept it sweet and simple with a few bouquets, boutonniere's and corsages. Emily and Scott's palette were shades of blue, green, white and yellow to compliment the yellow and teal bridesmaids dresses. Some items used: calla lilies, hydrangeas, delphinium, dendrobium orchids, roses and freesia.

-The next wedding we took part in that weekend was the union of Megan Granito & David Ginsberg. This couple traveled to Carolina Beach from Maryland to take the plunge! The ceremony was held on Carolina Beach behind The Courtyard Marriott and was followed by the big party at Elijah's. Megan wanted to go with a nautical theme using shells, lanterns, sea oats, sand and more. Fiore provided her with bouquets, boutonniere's, corsages, table centerpieces and more in shades of cream, orange and light green. Materials used to create these arrangements included: hydrangeas, roses, dahlias, dried wheat, sea oats, and many other local foliages.

18-On Sunday, Erica Leinwand & Morgan Mehler were wed in a traditional Jewish ceremony. The ceremony took place on the back lawn at Country Club of Landfall's Nicklaus Clubhouse followed by an indoor reception in the ballroom. Erica selected shades of deep browns and reds as well as creams and accents of gold. Fiore provided Morgan & Erica with florals for all of the attendants as well as the intricate items used to decorate the ceremony and reception. Flowers included: cymbidium orchids, fern prongs, coffee berries, dahlias, roses, and much more.

24-Celeste Barnes & Bobby Glass chose The Graystone Inn for their nuptials. Celeste envisioned all things white and lots of phaeleonopsis orchids, so that's just what we did. We used all white phaeleonopsis orchids, dendrobium orchids, cymbidium orchids, oriental lilies and other items to design this elegant event!

-Danni Banks & Kevin Kiernan were also wed in downtown Wilmington, but at the Coastline Convention Center. Danni selected white and red for her colors and stayed classic using roses and spray roses.

31-We did not have any weddings booked this Halloween, however this gives us lots of play time to prepare for the Cape Fear Wedding Show on November 1! Please feel free to call or e-mail me if you would like further information. Hope to see you there!

SEPTEMBER

"Falling in Love"

While the summer season drew to an end, the fall wedding season was well underway! This September we had the joy of taking part in the journey's of six couples who have fallen in love.

05-Sarah Erdahl & Eric McClellan kicked off the beginning of September weddings for us with a bash over Labor Day Weekend! This couple endured the last of the summer sizzle with an outdoor ceremony at Airlie Gardens followed by a reception at The Roudabush Room downtown. Sarah chose a color scheme of teals, yellows and bright greens to accent her big day. Flowers included: hydrangeas, garden/cabbage roses, cymbidium orchids, thistle, fern prongs and sweet smelling freesia.

12-On the following weekend, we doubled up and designed 2 totally different affairs! Lisa Leath & Chris Williams were married on the beach and then moved the location over to Bluewater Grill where the party then commenced! Lisa creatively designed her own table centerpieces that we based the bouquets and other floral arrangements around. She selected a color palette of red, teal & white. Flowers included: hydrangeas, asiatic lilies, montbretia, dendrobium orchids, dried wheat, gerberas, delphinium and branches of curly willow spray painted to match.

12-Our other couple that weekend, Jessica Lineberry & Daniel Woelk tied the knot at the bride's childhood church, Sunset Park Baptist Church here in Wilmington. After the ceremony, family and friends joined the couple in celebrating their new status as husband & wife at The Balcony on Dock! The color choice on this wedding!? All things hot pink & it was fabulous! Flowers included: gerberas, roses, cymbidium orchids, celosia (cockscomb), hydrangeas, bells of Ireland and more.

19-On the last official weekend of summer, we provided Chasity Spotloe & Michael Keffer with bouquets and centerpieces for their intimate wedding day. The ceremony took place at their home and was followed by a reception at Front Street Brewery. The primary color selected were fuchsia to be accented by various foliages. Blooms included: gereberas, roses, spray roses and more.

26-Finally, for the first weekend of the Autumn 2009 season we were delighted to take part in another double wedding weekend! Our couples again had completely different ideas for their big days and both turned out wonderfully! I know many couples go through a lot while planning a wedding, but both of these couples really showed some courage and commitment through some high-stress situations (trying to move across the country, fiances in different countries, rainy wedding days, etc). All parties maintained their composure and were truly a pleasure to work with! First, Mya Nugent & Neal Lynch were married outdoors at the Cape Fear River Deck. They then took a short stroll over to the Roudabush Room where friends and family enjoyed cocktails and celebrating the union of the two. Mya chose a very Victorian look going with shades of light pinks, taupy browns and creams. Flowers and foliages included: hydrangeas, roses, lisianthus, garden/cabbage roses, dried wheat, rosemary, and curly willow just to name a few.

26-Bethany Noller & Josh Bauer tied the knot at Porter's Neck Country Club. The ceremony took place beneath a tent on the lawn while the reception moved indoors into the main ballroom! Bethany wanted to incorporate fall colors while keeping in mind the reds and whites to compliment the military attire her groom and other members of the bridal party were wearing. That being said, we went for a fall-like color spectrum using reds, oranges and yellows with touches of green and white. Flowers included: hydrangeas, coffee berries (hypericum), dahlias, ranunculus, callas, billy balls, oncidium orchids, cabbage/garden roses, roses and more.

AUGUST
"School of Love"

While many teachers and students headed back to school this month. These featured couples are learning to live in matrimony!

08- Angela Throckmorton and Will Klinger took in the elegance and charm Wilmington has to offer during their nuptials at Greenfield Lake Park. Shortly after, their celebration took place at The Balcony on Dock. After working extensively with Angela to perfect the look they had been imagining, we ended up with a gorgeous and unique display of light pinks and chocolate browns featured in flowers such as hydrangeas, garden roses, fern prongs and my new favorite, brown cymbidium orchids!

Later that afternoon, we had the honor of taking part in the union of Emily Barnes and Andy Mendrala. The two were married at the quaint Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel on Topsail Beach. The reception then took place at the home of the Bride's parents in Hampstead, NC. The whole scene was picturesque with the yellows and greens of her flowers against the gorgeous Intracostal Waterway. Some of her featured florals included cymbidium, oncidium and dendrobium orchids, coffee berries, irises, hydrangeas and much more.

15- The following weekend we created a beautiful bouquet and boutonniere for the very intimate wedding of Andrea Norman and her groom Jared. The two were wed at Temple Gardens in Landfall and celebrated with a small reception at a friends home close to the ceremony. Flowers consisted of green cymbidium orchids, white dahlias, tuberose, green coffee berries and variegated pittosporum.

22-To wrap up our August weddings, we had the opportunity to take part in yet another small and intimate wedding. Heather McDowell came to us from Raleigh, NC for a bouquet and boutonniere for she and her fiance for their Wrightsville Beach Wedding. Heather selected florals in vibrant shades of orange. Her bouquet consisted of rust cymbidium, orange mokara and speckled tiger orchids, along with orange roses, ranunculus, mango callas and seeded eucalyptus!

Again, we'd like to congratulate all these newlyweds and thank them for letting us take part in their special days. It's so nice to be able to meet so many different people all with unique ideas and expectations. We hope you all were pleased with our one of a kind designs.

JULY

"Hot & Steamy"

Don't think the summer heat kept these love birds from tying the knot!

11- The week after Independence Day, we had the honor in helping Melissa Burton and Juan Mendoza tie the knot. Though the couple wed outside of Wilmington, they came to us to give Melissa and her bridesmaids beautiful bouquets to carry down the aisle. They kept the bouquets in earthy tones of light blues, greens, whites and brown.

18- Kathryn Melcher and her husband were married on the beach at sunrise. Though simple, she kept with her sunrise theme and kept the look bright and tropical incorporating rust colored calla lilies, purple dendrobium orchids, red coffee berries and bear grass for a wispy and beachy look.

25- Deborah Nichols and Justin Ainsworth kept with their contemporary themed wedding at The Cameron Art Museum when considering flowers. The tropical flowers were designed with an architectural flare in reds, lime greens and white to compliment their Tiffany blue and red color theme.

Well as Labor Day weekend fast approaches, and the summer season comes to an end, we'd like to congratulate our newlyweds who were married in June, July and August this year.

JUNE

"Mostly Bright with a Touch of White"

01-Penny Polites and Robert Kreysa were wed on a Monday evening at The City Club. Their big day was decorated in shades of white, light blues and chocolate browns with a European flare to welcome family from overseas.

06-Mandy Williamson and Scott Sandlin traveled all the way from Texas for their destination wedding on Wrightsville Beach. Their flowers consisted of white calla lilies, white gerberas and white daisies.

06-Libbey Fonteyne and Jason Smith are local Wilmingtonians who made a very earthy location at Halyburton Park explode with their vibrant color choices. Their citrus themed decor gave the reception site an unbelievable scent. Flowers used included yellow calla lilies, "Circus" roses, gloriosa lilies and hydrangeas!

06-Nicole Althof and Eric Campbell were wed in a beautiful Jewish ceremony on the back lawn at The Country Club of Landfall. The reception was also held at the club and was decorated in bright summery flowers including sunflowers, gerberas, daisies and more in shades of yellow, red and orange.

13-The following weekend, we had the pleasure of taking part in the whimsical nuptials of Janet Funderburk and Rich Albers. The two were wed in the historic First Baptist Church of Wilmington and celebrated in a reception at The Roudabush Room. These two incorporated their colors of hot pinks, yellows and greens in their centerpieces by using lemons and limes, hydrangeas, gerbera daisies and more atop a square block of moss.

28-On the last Sunday in June, Kendra Selin and Jimmy Arthur brought themselves, as well as their friends and family to celebrate in their big day! The wedding took place on the beach behind Shell Island Resort on Wrightsville Beach. The reception was then held on the Cape Fear River at Watermark Marina. In keeping with the bright themed colors most of our other couples incorporated in their June weddings, Kendra and Jimmy went with an aqua, orange and hot pink color scheme. Their flowers consisted of gerberas and calla lilies.

Again, we want to congratulate all our newly weds and wish them the best in their new journey together. Thank you for letting Fiore take part in your big days!

The newly crowned Miss USA, Kristen Dalton returned to her hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina during the last week of May and Fiore had the honor of taking part in this special once in a lifetime event! Well, I don't know how May went for most other wedding vendors here in Southeastern N.C. but here at Fiore we were blooming out a wedding every weekend in May--most of which had multiple weddings!

Before all the Wedding madness, I do have to mention Fiore celebrated it's first birthday on May 1st, 2009! HOORAY-we survived our first year in business!!! Thanks to all who have helped make it possible and fun at the same time. It's been great getting to know so many people whether they be vendors, advertisers, regular customers or brides. I feel we've made lasting relationships with so many wonderful people!

The following week we got to experience our second dose of Mother's Day at Fiore! With about 4 days of non-stop calls, orders, deliveries, etc. and only a couple of glitches along the way, our Mother's Day was considerably smooth sailing! Thanks to all our family & friends that came in to help us on such a crazy weekend here in Wilmington. Having UNCW's graduations that weekend added to the excitement of it all!

After recovering from the annual chaos of Mother's Day, we took part in the vendor fair at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. It was nice to meet the people who work so hard to keep us healthy and save our lives every day! By the way, if you're one of those people, don't forget to mention you're a hospital employee when you call to place an order with us-you may get something special! Later that same week, we were able to take part in the marriage of Alison Rothenberg to Josh Entis. Congratulations!

Then there was Memorial Day weekend...WHEW! This was our biggest wedding weekend yet! With 4 weddings total on that Saturday & Sunday, we worked our little flower loving hearts out to make each one unique and special! We're Back!!!

Well it's been a while since we've created a new post. Fortunately that's because we've been so busy. Busy with weddings, events and growing in our business.

Here's a few things we've done since our last post:

In March, we kicked off our wedding season with the marriages of Julia Gaillard & Ryan Edwards, Cameron Blair & Thomas Cooper, and Kelly Bryan & Robert van der Vaart. We want to congratulate all those beautiful couples and thank them for letting us take part in their special days!

Also in March, with the celebration of Spring's arrival, Lonnie took part in a show for the Harbor Island Garden Club as well as provided Cape Fear Academy & an organization dedicated to providing individuals with "Planned Parenthood" lessons with some arrangements.

April brought about many special days and events!

In the first part of April, we kept busy with many Easter and Passover arrangements and deliveries. In this time we constructed the largest floral Easter egg ever for Country Club of Landfall's annual Easter Buffet. It was definitely a challenge learning what would work & it looked great, but we definitely came up with some tricks to make it even better next year! Oh yes, and we can't forget the lovely white carnation Easter bunnies as well!

The following weekend after Easter, Fiore took part in 2 more weddings-Tricia DiFiore to Matt Mullins and Daniela Lucaciu to Bryn Jones. Daniela and Bryn's wedding was very special to me as she is my big sister. I can't thank Lonnie, Jean and all those who took part in this day enough. This was truly the most beautiful, fairytale wedding I'd ever been to or seen! It was absolutely gorgeous and perfect all the way around thanks to my wonderfully talented friend, Lonnie!

Another big deal in the Fiore world was Kathy's 40th Birthday! After a nice little trip to Washington D.C. with her hubby, we surprised her with a little surprise birthday party at Jean and Eric's home! And boy was it a surprise...we got our ever-so youthful boss lady pretty good!

On April 25th, Marsha Johnson & Brendan Collins as well as Pam Cuthrell and Josh Erwin let us take part in their nuptials!

Festival of Flowers

Fiore Fine Flowers hosted the Festival of Flowers to help Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation (http://www.hospiceandlifecarecenter.org/) raise dollars for their very important and special care.

Over 125 ladies gathered together at the Wilmington Hilton for mimosa's and brunch, where they were entertained and educated by our own, Lonnie Taylor! He fascinated all with his unique style and innovative designs. After the informative talk, all participants were invited to produce their own distinctive flower arrangement. Tables were set with containers & flowers so each person could put what they learned into practice!

Lonnie & Fiore friend, Larry Epps of Larry's Florist, went to each table and gave guidance and praise......

We were delighted to learn that $5000 was raised for LCF Hospice Foundation and we are confident that our next Festival of Flowers will bring even more.

Wilmington Garden Show

This past weekend Lonnie gave a lesson on floral design at the Wilmington Garden Show downtown at the Schwartz Center. The show was hosted by and benefiting the NHCCE Arboretum Foundation. Our bridal TV ad will begin the 2nd week in March on Fox. You'll see our sweet bride and some beautiful bouquets as well as boutonniere's.

We'll follow with our lovely golfing friend, Anky Koudjis. I'm sure you will agree, she is very classy, just like Fiore!

Designer of the Year Show

We'd like to thank all those that joined us this past Sunday at our Designer of the Year Show featuring "Weddings with Wow!" at Cut Fresh Flowers. I know many of you drove a good ways to get there and we hope you enjoyed the show as well as mingling amongst other florist & assistants in the industry.

Thanks to Steven Custer for coming all the way from Greensboro (Plants & Answers) to share his insight on the future of wedding floral designs.
Also, thank you to Mark & Diane Warren and all those at Cut Fresh Flowers who helped us host this event.

We look forward to hearing some feedback and hope to see you all again at future events. In the mean time, keep in touch and good luck to all of you in your upcoming Valentine's day productions & sales!

Wild Wednesday!

Well today was our big semi-annual Cape Fear Wedding Association Luncheon at Country Club of Landfall. With a couple bumps along the way, everything came out great.

With an unfortunate start to the day, Jean was hospitalized and is heading into gallbladder surgery tomorrow morning. Please say a prayer for her to get well soon! :)

With that said, Lonnie, Kathy & I jumped right into the day. With our unusual snow day yesterday, our truck with most of the flowers we'd ordered for this event didn't make it to us. But with Lonnie's imaginative mind, he did a spectacular job improvising with what we had to prepare for our "Winter Wonderland" themed luncheon. Boy I don't think anybody realized how "Winter Wonderland" it was going to be! So, this morning I headed over to CCL to set-up while Kathy & Lonnie manned the fort, 'til Kathy joined me for the luncheon. Though probably a little overwhelming for one man, Lonnie was fortunate enough to be extremely busy while we were away! I want to say thank you to the wonderful staff/old friends at CCL that helped me unload and set up for this event as I was 1 man short. This crew is definitely one that will never let you down and will have everything perfected up to the very last second of your event! I've seen some unbelievable transformations by this banquet staff in record time! Bravo! Anyway, overall, I think the luncheon went great and we got lots of great feedback. Thanks to all that took part in this record setting event. We hope to hear more feedback and get/give some referrals in the near future.

Shop Dog!

Well Lonnie has been talking about getting a shop dog for some time now, but did the unthinkable on Monday!!!

...he came in with a darling Shepoo. (1/2 shitzu, 1/2 poodle)

Lonnie, John, Kathy & I are all dog lovers anyway, but our new little guy has even won over the hearts of our cat-loving owners, Jean & Eric!

Currently he only weighs about 2lbs. and will only get up to 6-7! We're still working on a name for him, so let us know what you think. We've come up with everything from Gizmo, Luigi, Rocky, Willow (shortened to Willy), to Noah, Bentley and Leroy. If you have suggestions, we'd love to hear them!!!
